Oppositionally Defiant

This happened at school just the other week. Up on the second floor we have our primary special ed room. One of the students is (among other things) diagnosed as having oppositional defiant disorder. Before you totally deny the existence of this and argue it should simply be called "not able to follow directions" listen to this:

Omar was in line with his class at the beginning of the day and was smiling from ear to ear. Our reading specialist said, "Good morning, Omar!" and he went on to tell her how excited he was that today was the day he was line leader. She said she was happy for him and wished him a good day and left for her room. Later in the day she saw the class again but Omar was in the back of the line with his arm crossed and obviously very upset. The reading specialist asked Omar's teacher what happened to Omar. "I thought he was supposed to be the line leader today." "Well," his teacher responded, "he was the line leader but got angry at the other kids for following him and hollered at the class so much I had to put him at the end of the line."
True story.
